Wildfire communication starter kits
Making sure our community members have access to vital safety information and resources during extreme weather events is crucial, and we’d like to help however we can. In response, we’ve developed a communication starter kit with tools to support your communication efforts.
This starter kit includes a community letter/email with safety information, messaging guidance, social media and web assets, a radio public service announcement, and best practices for communications around public safety. The starter kits are tailored by province and territory and include unique, local resources where you will find wildfire information, evacuation status, wildfire safety, support, preparation, and prevention information.
During unpredictable events, communication is key. This starter kit can be used as part of broader communications planning and rollout, where you may also consider further customized planning, media training for leaders, rapid response support during a wildfire, and more.
